The Mk7 Transit was produced between 2006 > 2014 and set the standard for reliability and durability when it was a current model, and now superseded still stands out as an exceptionally dependable vehicle that can handle arduous working environments and stop-start urban driving without significant maintenance requirements.
Whilst simpler both mechanically and cosmetically than the current model, these vehicles simply have less to break / damage / fail and as continue to perform exceptionally well across a range of applications where the venerable 2.4l EURO IV and 2.2l EURO V compliant engines remain suitable.
The general design of the vehicle is a carryover from the earlier Mk6 model and gives the vehicle a relatively compact size and crucially a low Gross Vehicle Weight compared to the later generations – with the L4 version sitting at or under 4.25t GVW which gives ability once converted to wheelchair access to be operated in non-profit, non-commercial applications with drivers holding a standard B ‘Car’ license (age / experience restrictions apply, please contact us for more information)
We recommend utilising the High Roof (H3) Bodyshell as pictured which provides approx 6’1″ Standing room internally, but with limited availability the Medium Roof (H2) Bodyshell is also a good starting point when passengers are of limited height and particularly suited for Schools, Sports Clubs or Scout Groups where wheelchair carrying operations is only required on occasion.
All vehicles are fully prepared both cosmetically and mechanically prior to conversion and undergo the installation of a full or partial length aluminium bonded floor with airline tracking into which we install 14 mid-high backed coach style seats trimmed in either OE cloth or a fabric / vinyl of the customers choice. 10 of these are removable giving the ability to carry 1-4 wheelchairs with staged removal with access and egress enabled with a PLS Access cassette tail-lift at the rear and a kick out (or optional electrically operated) side step at the sliding door entrance.
